Vice President Kamala Harris has always been an objectively bad politician who comes across as extraordinarily disingenuous and unlikeable, even to many Democratic voters, hence her dropping out of the 2020 Democratic primary before any votes were actually cast.
Nor can the media or pollsters hide just how disliked Harris is among the American people, as even an outlet that is generally favorable to her recently admitted that Harris is the most unpopular of all recent vice presidents, Breitbart reported.
That analysis does no favors for Harris, who is the odds-on favorite to be the Democratic Party’s nominee in 2024 — assuming, of course, that President Joe Biden declines to run for a second term in office as the oldest U.S. president in history.
A new record
It was the Los Angeles Times that launched a special project earlier in the year to track and combine together all of the various polls measuring Vice President Harris’ approval and favorability ratings.
Needless to say, that has not gone particularly well for the VP, and the LA Times was recently compelled to acknowledge just how unpopular she is, more so even than any of her four most recent predecessors in the vice president’s office.
That would include her current boss, Biden, along with former Vice Presidents Mike Pence, Dick Cheney, and Al Gore — none of whom were all that popular with the American people in their own right.
The Times’ analysis, as of Oct. 26, revealed that Harris was viewed favorably by 42% of registered voters and unfavorably by 51%, giving her a negative net favorability rating of -9 points.
Other polls agree
As devastating as that analysis might be for VP Harris and the minority of voters who actually like her, it isn’t out of line with other efforts that track and combine different polls to present an average rating in terms of approval or favorability, both of which generally measure a politician’s popularity with the people.
According to FiveThirtyEight, and as of Oct. 29, Harris had an average approval of 42.7% and disapproval of 52.5%, for a negative net approval rating of -9.8 percentage points.
RealClearPolitics’ average of polls, meanwhile, found that Harris was viewed favorably by 42.5% of registered voters and unfavorably by 51%, for a negative net spread of -8.5 percent.
Excuses, excuses
Breitbart noted that the Times — as well as FiveThirtyEight — sought to make excuses for Harris’ poor showing among voters, blaming things like the tough assignment on illegal immigration she was given by Biden, along with, of course, the purportedly ubiquitous sexism and racism aimed at politicians who happen to be women and/or minorities.
To be sure, there are undoubtedly some Americans who dislike Harris for sexist or racist reasons, but that most certainly doesn’t comprise half of the country, and the brutal reality is that Harris is just a deeply inauthentic and highly cringeworthy individual that nobody really trusts or cares for.
