Biden blocks funding for border wall, but puts more than $450K toward fence for his Delaware home: Report

President Joe Biden has put a stop to construction of his predecessor’s long esteemed wall at the U.S.–Mexico border, a move that prompted a legal challenge from Republicans in two states who said federal funding already allocated for the wall must be spent on it.

But while the Justice Department defends his decision to block construction of the border wall, Biden apparently hasn’t been shy about putting taxpayer money toward other, evidently much more pressing security measures, like fencing around his multimillion-dollar Delaware beach house that the Department of Homeland Security just agreed to pay a whopping $456,548 for, according to a new report from Fox News.

It’s true

The development comes by way of USA Spending, a website that tracks federal spending.

According to Breitbart, the group revealed the more-than-$450,000 contract was signed with a company known as Turnstone Holdings, LLC, for the “purchase and installation of security fencing” at the address of the beach house Biden purchased for $2.7 million back during the summer of 2017.

According to the terms of the contract, the “start date” was Sept. 21, 2021. Reports indicate, however, that as of Oct. 20 — a month later — construction had still not begun.

The “potential end date” and the “current end date” are both listed as Dec. 21 on the contract. Reports indicate the contractors still expect to complete the job on schedule.

Oh, the irony

The pricey project comes after Biden canceled earlier this month all remaining border wall contracts in the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley sectors. These are contracts that were entered into by former President Donald Trump’s administration to erect a wall along the U.S.–Mexico border in order to curb illegal migration and stem rising crime there.

Nixing the southern border wall is just one of many steps that Biden has taken to undo the border security policies once heralded by his predecessor. And Americans are suffering the consequences.

The latest reports indicate that there were over 2 million illegal border crossings during the 2021 fiscal year, which just came to an end on Sept. 30. Of these 2 million, roughly 1.65 million were apprehended by law enforcement, which means at least 400,000 got away.

They got away, of course, because Border Patrol simply doesn’t have the resources to handle an influx of migration that has spiraled into a crisis in the months since Biden took office. You’d think a wall might help slow things down. But the Biden administration apparently feels otherwise.

Just on Friday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki went so far as to call a border wall “feckless,” adding that it costs “billions of dollars for taxpayers,” according to Breitbart.

But if walls don’t work, why is Biden getting a security fence erected around his house? The question remains.
