President Joe Biden continues to sink in the polls.
Newsmax reports that a new poll from the Washington Post/ABC News has Biden with a negative net approval rating.
The numbers
This poll was conducted between August 29th and September 1st. 1,006 adults were surveyed and the margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points, which isn’t really going to come into play here.
What the pollster found what that Biden has an approval rating of 44 percent and a disapproval rating of 51 percent. Combined, this means that Biden is currently underwater by 7 percentage points.
The pollster broke things down a bit further by asking participants whether they “strongly” or “somewhat strongly” approve or disapprove of Biden’s performance. Out of those four categories, the biggest was “strongly disapprove,” with 42 percent. The next biggest was “strongly approve” with 25 percent.
The pollster did ask further questions in order to try to understand why participants either approve or disapprove of Biden’s performance. Overall, the pollster found that participants disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy, 49 percent to 45 percent, and overwhelmingly disapprove of Biden’s handling of the Afghanistan situation – 60 percent to 30 percent.
Regarding Afghanistan, most – 77 percent – believed that the U.S. ought to have withdrawn from the country. But, what most – 52 percent – took issue with was the way Biden went about that withdrawal. Only 26 percent said that they both approve the withdrawal and how it was executed.
Also, 53 percent placed the blame for the 13 U.S. military members killed as a result of the terrorist bombing at the Kabul Airport on Biden.
Background
In the polls, Biden has consistently been heading in the wrong direction. In the Washington Post/ABC News poll from June, for example, Biden had a positive net approval rating of 8 percentage points. Now, he has a negative net approval rating of 7 percentage points, which is a 15 point swing in two months.
The poll aggregator RealClearPolitics has Biden’s average approval right now at 45.2 percent and his average disapproval at 49.3 percent. That’s a negative 4.1 percentage point net disapproval rating.
Breitbart reports that a Zogby poll has 1 in 5 Biden voters indicating that they regret voting for Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
So, it’s bad news all around for Biden, but it’s even worse news for America. We still have several more years of Biden in office, and, at least at the moment, there are no signs that things are going to get any better under his leadership.
