Pelosi’s bishop rebukes her, Biden for abortion stance

President Joe Biden has long sought to portray himself as a pious Catholic to the American people, but he finally came out last week as a true believer in the Democratic party and its highest sacrament, abortion.

Now, the Catholic bishop in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) hometown is calling out Pelosi and Biden over their radical abortion politics, saying they have a duty as Catholics to respect the sanctity of God’s creation, the Daily Caller reports.

Rebuking Pelosi and Biden by name, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone balked at the notion that calling on prominent Catholics to follow the teachings of the church is “weaponizing the Eucharist,” as some suggest.

Cordileone, who has pushed for Biden and others who treat faith as a stage prop to be barred from receiving the host, rejected calls for the bishops to “stay in [their] lane” and simply defer to the whims of powerful politicians.

Excommunication?

Far from it, he suggested that excommunication may be justified to chasten Catholics such as Biden, who has continued to reach new, audacious extremes in his hypocritical support of abortion.

While Pelosi has long been known as a ghoul who worships power, Biden has at least maintained a pretense of religious devotion — until now. After Texas virtually banned abortion last week, Biden vowed to bring a “whole-of-government” response to protect the so-called right to “safe and legal” abortion.

As Fox News noted, he also said that he doesn’t believe that life begins at conception.

Historically, Biden has gone with the “I think slavery is evil, but I won’t push that personal view on others” cop-out used by pro-abortion Democrats, but the longtime “moderate” now seems to have fallen in with the party line: abortion is good and should have no limitations, period.

Biden, drop the act

As Cordileone made clear in his op-ed, such a teaching is immoral and at odds with what the Church believes.

“You cannot be a good Catholic and support expanding a government-approved right to kill innocent human beings,” he wrote.

“This is hardly inappropriate for a pastor to say. If anything, Catholic political leaders’ response to the situation in Texas highlights the need for us to say it all the louder.”

If Biden wants to support abortion, then let him — but he needs to drop the altar boy shtick like, yesterday.
