President Joe Biden’s Afghanistan disaster, which has resulted in the deaths of numerous U.S. service members and over 100 Afghan allies, is quickly spiraling out of control in the final hours before the Aug. 31 evacuation deadline.
According to Fox News, a retired U.S. Army Green Beret issued a dire warning in a Monday morning interview with the network, claiming that Americans are now being turned away from Hamid Karzai International Airport by members of the Taliban, as the final hours to escape count down.
Scott Mann, the former Special Forces commander who issued the warning, is part of a group of U.S. veterans helping Americans and Afghans escape the country using their vast network and former assets on the ground.
“We’re doing this from the US, but we’re building on our relationship and trust that we’ve had with our Afghan partners for 20 years. So we’ve got the ground truth on the outside of the gate,” Mann told Fox & Friends Monday morning.
The warning
Mann is primarily concerned with the number of Americans and U.S. allies who will literally end up trapped behind enemy lines as the Biden administration and his top military brass fly the last remaining evacuations flights out of Kabul.
“Here’s the deal. There are hundreds of American citizens right now who are not able to get in,” Mann said of the situation on the ground, according to his sources.
He added: “Yesterday, there was a bus of up to 50 American citizens with many small children within sight of the gate. The Taliban were not only not letting them in, they were firing over their heads, firing around the bus with these little kids on there.”
“This is happening all over the city. We’re going to have American citizens and Afghan allies behind enemy lines within a few hours,” the former Green Beret continued.
Conflicting reports
Numerous reports from the ground similar to Mann’s revelation that Americans aren’t being allowed through the airport gates were contradicted by Biden’s top officials on Monday, who claimed that the remaining few hundred Americans who want to be evacuated are able to do so, according to the New York Post.
“We have the capacity to have 300 Americans, which is roughly the number we think are remaining, come to the airport and get on planes in the time that is remaining,” National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said.
Sullivan went on to say that the Biden administration is in the process of devising plans to extract any remaining Americans and Afghan allies once U.S. troops completely exit the country on Tuesday.
Only time will tell if the Biden administration is being truthful in their assessment, but there seems to be an overwhelming amount of evidence coming from Mann and others who have contacts on the ground who believe the results of Biden’s failed withdrawal will soon become much worse.
