Oklahoma Republican Rep. Markwayne Mullin’s is reportedly missing in Afghanistan after the lawmaker traveled to the nation to help rescue five citizens left behind by the Biden administration.
“He needed assistance in transporting a huge amount of cash into the country, saying he was going to neighboring Afghanistan to rescue five American citizens, a woman and her four children, stuck in the country. They planned to hire a helicopter for the effort,” according to the Washington Post.
Mullin’s current location is unknown after leaving the embassy.
“A Sad Day for Our Country”
“This is a sad day for our country,” Mullin said in a statement on Monday.
“Americans have been stranded in Afghanistan by the Biden Administration and are now left to defend themselves from terrorists overrunning the country. One motto of our military is ‘leave no man behind.’ But today, that’s exactly what President Biden did,” he added.
“American exit did not have to be this way and there must be accountability for this complete and utter failure. The service and sacrifice of our service members and their families was not made in vain, and it will never be forgotten,” Mullin concluded.
Honoring Those in Afghanistan
“There are not enough words to thank these brave men and women for their sacrifice,” Mullin tweeted Tuesday. “To our 13 heroes- we are forever indebted to you.”
He added, “God Bless our Gold Star families.”

Mullin has done more than honor lives lost in Afghanistan. He is working to free trapped Americans.
Unfortunately, he is now among those missing in the war-torn nation. Regardless, he at least reveals the efforts one American lawmaker is willing to make to help Americans during a time when the Biden administration has failed to act.
