Biden blasted after checking watch during dignified transfer ceremony of fallen U.S. troops

President Joe Biden was present at Dover Air Force Base as the bodies of fallen American military personnel were flown back from Afghanistan.

However, images have since emerged showing Biden stopping to look at his watch during the solemn occasion, the New York Post reported. If the president thought his actions would go unnoticed, he was sorely mistaken, as social media quickly took notice and blasted him for what appeared to be a massive show of disrespect.

Media Research Center news analyst Nicholas Fondacaro tweeted out footage of the event, saying, “It’s true. Joe Biden checked his watch during the dignified transfer of the servicemembers killing in Afghanistan at the airport.

“You can see him jerk his left hand to pull the watch out from under his sleeve, then look down at it,” Fondacaro noted.

“This is shocking”

Biden’s actions didn’t go over well with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), who tweeted, “Many of us remember Pres Bush 41 checking his watch during a debate and how awful it looked (even though we all felt same way about that debate.) But this is shocking and will be remembered.”

Former White House physician and Texas Rep. Ronnie Jackson tweeted his feelings on the matter as well, asking whether “our Commander-in-Chief has better things to do than honor the 13 service members who died on his watch?”

“I’m DISGUSTED!” Jackson wrote, adding, “God bless these heroes and their loved ones. They deserved better.”

Parents outraged

The president’s behavior did not go unnoticed among the parents of the fallen U.S. service members, with two of them speaking about it to Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“That didn’t happen just once,” recalled Darin Hoover, the father of U.S. Marine Darin Taylor Hoover Jr. “It happened on every single one that came out of that airplane. It happened on every single one of them.”

“They would release the salute, and he would look down at his watch on every last one, all 13, he looked down at his watch,” Hoover recalled.

Mark Schmitz, the father of fallen U.S. Marine Jared Schmitz, confirmed he saw the same thing, saying, “I leaned into my son’s mother’s ear and I said ‘I swear to God if he checks his watch one more time’ — and that was probably only four times in: I couldn’t look at him anymore after that.”

“Considering the time and why we were there, I found it to be the most disrespectful thing I’d ever seen.”
