Former President Donald Trump recently hinted during a Newsmax TV interview that soon he’ll announce whether or not he’ll seek a second term in the White House in the 2024 presidential election, adding that he’s focused on helping GOP candidates win in 2022.
“I’ll be making an announcement in the not too distant future,” Trump said during the show. “Right now, I’m helping a lot of people get into office, and we’re fighting the deep state, and we’re fighting [the] radical left. They’re after me. They’re after Rudy [Giuliani], they’re after you, probably. They’re after anybody. They’re vicious. They’re vicious, and they don’t do a good job and they’re very bad for the country … But I’ve been fighting them for 5.5 years.”
“We want a little time to go by, maybe watch what happens in [2022],” the former president continued. “We’re giving tremendous endorsements … and some people go up 40, 50, 60 points.”
Trump predicted that 2024 would be rough for President Joe Biden because inflation, he predicts, could skyrocket even higher than its peak during former President Jimmy Carter’s term in the 1970s when interest rates hit 21% due to massive inflation.
“We’re going to top those numbers”
“I was there with Jimmy Carter, meaning I was one of the people that was, you know, working in this country at the time,” Trump said. “And prime rate went up to 21% and the inflation was devastating. That was the worst. I mean, that was as bad as it gets … We’re going to top those numbers, so we’re going to come pretty close to topping those.”
He pointed to gas and lumber prices as examples of what is happening with current prices, which he said were roughly double what they were when he exited office.
“Six months is not a long period of time, but the time does fly,” he said. “I will say that and we’re working very hard on it. And we’re also working very hard not only for 2024, but we’re working very hard to show the corruption of what took place in 2020, and then we see what happens.”
According to a previous Newsmax report, Trump also indicated that he will soon revive his ultra-popular MAGA rallies in different parts of the country, in an effort to give Americans “hope.”
Rallies to bolster primary candidates
His first rally will be held Saturday near Cleveland, Ohio. Reportedly, the former president will use some of his rallies to bolster support for candidates he chooses to back, particularly the opponents of sitting Republican members of Congress who voted to impeach him after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Saturday’s rally will focus on support for former aide Max Miller, who is set to oppose Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), as Gonzalez was one of the Republicans who voted in favor of Trump’s second impeachment.
“Anthony Gonzalez is a terrible congressman, terrible,” said Trump on Friday. “Max is outstanding … he’s young. He’s strong. He’s vibrant. He has ideas. He loves Ohio and he loves our country and he’ll be great.”
“The rallies are something that we can do that nobody else can do, because if somebody else calls for a rally, they have 12 people show up, and that’s including Biden,” Trump said. “He couldn’t fill up the circles. Then all of a sudden, they miraculously won. But a lot of things are happening about that subject, and we’ll see how that all works out.”
