Obama says Biden is ‘finishing the job’ started by his administration

Former President Barack Obama just confirmed what we have suspected all along.

The Washington Examiner reports Obama as stating, essentially, that Joe Biden’s presidency is little more than a continuation of his own. 

He admitted it

Obama’s remarks come from a recently released interview that he did with the New York Times. 

“I think that what we’re seeing now, is Joe and the administration are essentially finishing the job,” Obama said.

This, of course, has long been suspected given the large number of Obama administration individuals who are now working in the Biden administration. This has led many to argue that Biden’s presidency is really nothing more than Obama’s third term, and Obama doesn’t seem to disagree.

“And I think it’ll be an interesting test,” Obama continued. “Ninety percent of the folks who were there in my administration, they are continuing and building on the policies we talked about…”

Trump’s interruption

In the interview, Obama went on to try to take credit for the economic success that former President Donald Trump saw during his term. He suggested that Trump’s success confused voters because it wasn’t the result of Trump’s policies but of his own.

“The fact that Trump interrupts essentially the continuation of our policies but still benefits from the economic stability and growth that we had initiated means people aren’t sure,” Obama said.

He continued: “Let’s say a Democrat, a Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton, had immediately succeeded me, and the economy suddenly has 3% unemployment. I think we would have consolidated the sense that ‘oh, actually, these policies that Obama put in place worked.'”

Now, Obama said that he is hopeful that Biden’s policies will have the impact that perhaps his own failed to have.

“I think we’re now in an environment where if we just get some big pieces in place, building on what we did before, people will notice,” Obama said. “And it will have a political impact.”

It certainly will have a political impact. The question is whether it will go in the direction that Obama is hoping it will go or whether Biden’s policies will drive voters to either Trump or pro-Trump politicians, just as Obama’s presidency did. We’ll see.
