Harris role as border czar replaced by voting rights role

Vice President Kamala Harris continues to reveal her weaknesses as President Joe Biden struggles to find a role she’ll excel in. 

First it was the “root causes” of migration. Then it was helping to promote the infrastructure plan. Maybe at some point Biden will promote Harris to chief of NASA and put her in charge of taking Americans to Mars.

Next up is the issue of expanding voting rights. Only one of the most important issues in a democracy.

Looks Good in Theory

In theory, Harris sounds like she’s ready. “In the days and weeks ahead, I will engage the American people, and I will work with voting rights organizations, community organizations, and the private sector to help strengthen and uplift efforts on voting rights nationwide. And we will also work with members of Congress to help advance these bills,” she said.

“Our Administration will not stand by when confronted with any effort that keeps Americans from voting,” according to the NBC News report.

The reality may be another matter. Biden keeps loading up the vice president with lofty leadership roles, but Harris doesn’t seem up for the challenge.

Immigration Frustration

Exhibit A: immigration. More than 70 days ago, Harris was tasked to lead the “response.” Since then, more illegal immigrants have crossed the nation’s southern border than perhaps any other time in history over the same 70 days.

Yet Harris has not visited the border, does not plan to visit the border and has not even held a press conference on the issue.

She has held virtual meetings, including plans to send funds to Central America and to plant trees to solve the root issues of migration.

Harris even talked about the “root causes” of migration with Korea’s president when he recently visited. Not sure how much that will help.

Americans need a vice president (and a president for that matter) who step to the challenges of the time. Instead, Biden and Harris continue to play hide and seek.

In some cases, Harris has resorted to nervous laughter, but it’s no laughing matter. America needs help, and Harris seems she needs her own help instead.
