Former President Donald Trump just launched a new communications platform, Fox News reports.
It ought to be noted, though, that is not the new social media platform that Trump is expected to launch in the near future. More on this later.
Trump’s new website
Since being banned from social media sites, following the January 6th Capitol riot, former President Trump has been finding new ways to communicate with his followers. One of the main ways that he has done so is through press releases from his post-presidential office.
“I’m getting the word out because we are doing releases,” Trump recently said. “Every time I do a release, it’s all over the place. It is better than Twitter, much more elegant than Twitter.”
To help “get the word out,” Trump just launched a new online communications platform that he is calling “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump.” The site contains Trump’s most recent statements, and it allows users to share those statements on other social media sites.
What the site doesn’t do, however, is allow users to post either their own messages or to reply to Trump’s messages.
A video on the site says, “In a time of silence and lies, a beacon of freedom arises, a place to speak freely and safely, Straight from the Desk of Donald J. Trump.”
Background
Jason Miller, one of Trump’s advisors, revealed in March that Trump was planning on launching his own social media site. More recently, it was confirmed by Fox News, that Trump is “moving forward” with this plan, although he is taking it slowly “to do it right.”
The launch of From the Desk of Donald J. Trump had many wondering whether this was Trump’s new social media site. Miller has confirmed that it is not.
“[From the Desk of Donald J. Trump] is a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office, but this is not a new social media platform,” Miller said.
“We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future,” he added.
So, there is still Trump’s new social media site to look forward to. But, for now, one can find his most recent statements on From the Desk of Donald J. Trump.
