Republican AGs unite in threat of legal action against Biden’s abortion agenda

More than 20 Republican state attorneys general sent a letter last week to President Joe Biden, warning they will present legal action if he moves forward on his proposal to expand taxpayer funding for abortion services, The Daily Wire reported.

“Title X reflects a compromise. It funds services that large numbers of Americans support while withholding that funding from services that large numbers oppose,” the letter says.

“The Proposed Rule tramples that compromise, by intertwining family-planning services with the divisive issue of publicly funded abortions,” the letter added.

Immoral and discriminatory

The Daily Wire reported that the administration’s focus on health equity could also lead to discrimination, according to the Republican AGs.

“All applicants must already indicate the number of patients served and the extent to which family planning services are needed locally, and grant priority is given to projects that serve low-income families,” the letter noted.

“In addition, health programs that receive funding from the Department may not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Thus existing law requires nondiscriminatory treatment, aimed to those patients most in need,” the letter continued.

The letter expressed another area of contention for Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, who is already under criticism for his response to immigration along the nation’s southern border, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

Becerra’s history

“White House officials are frustrated with Becerra’s ineffective attempts to deal with a record number of unaccompanied minors illegally crossing the border, according to Politico,” the Free Beacon’s report said.

“A group of congressional Republicans called for increased communication from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security over security concerns surrounding child trafficking at the border,” the report added.

National Review recently noted regarding the health secretary, “[H]e repeatedly denied the existence of a federal ban on barbaric partial-birth abortions that has been law for 18 years. Even under the most pro-abortion administration in history, where such shameless lies are par for the course, a new low has been set.”

The report further noted Becerra is, “A trial lawyer known for suing the Trump administration more than 100 times in his role as California’s attorney general.”

Biden’s plans may include taxpayer funded abortion, but the proposal will not move forward without a fight.
