A former member of the Trump administration has landed a job at Fox News, the network announced in a press release Thursday.
Kerri Kupec, who served as the director of public affairs and counselor to former Attorney General Bill Barr, will begin as the network’s Washington editor on May 10.
Background
A graduate of Liberty University School of Law, Kupec joined the Department of Justice in 2018 after having previously worked for the conservative legal group, Alliance Defending Freedom.
She was also a member of the 2016 Presidential Transition Team and clerked for the Virginia Court of Appeals under Judge William Petty.
While working for the Office of White House Counsel, Kupec reportedly played a role in the confirmation process of Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
Strong faith
Kupec has spoken warmly of her time spent at Liberty University School of Law, and addressed students during an appearance at the Christian university earlier this year.
“I was drawn to the ties I could see between God and law,” she told students in February. “I felt like someone had designed a law school for me and handed it to me on a silver platter.”
Kupec went on to explain the importance of her Christian faith, saying, “I think by just being human there are times and situations you’ll go through in life where you will question God’s plan or your relationship with Him. You’re either going to live life walking with the Lord or you’re not.”
She added, “But to live life without God would be far worse than to live life with God. Having a relationship with God is a gift and a great comfort.”
“Diverse perspectives”
In a press release from Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media, he praised Kupec along with the network’s other personnel joining the staff, according to The Hill.
“I am pleased that these dedicated individuals will join FOX News’ leadership team at our headquarters in New York and our largest bureau in Washington,” Wallace said.
“They will continue to advance our robust news operation and commitment to showcasing diverse perspectives across the network,” he added.
