CNN host Anderson Cooper bombs as Jeopardy guest host

I’ll take “fake news” for $500, Alex.

The ratings are in: CNN’s Anderson Cooper bombed as the guest host of Jeopardy. In fact, he’s the worst guest host ever, even underperforming Dr. Oz, Fox News reported.

In his first week as host, Cooper managed to pull the beloved TV staple from the top game show spot, knocking ratings down a full 7%.

Family Feud beats Jeopardy

With Cooper leading the way, Family Feud came out on top with a 5.5 rating, surpassing a lousy 5.1 rating for Jeopardy!, the lowest rating of any guest host since Alex Trebek died of pancreatic cancer last year.

Cooper managed to overtake the widely panned Dr. Oz for the title of worst host: Oz had scored a 5.2 rating in his first week. Host Katie Couric brought the show behind Family Feud for the first time since Trebek’s last episodes, and Dr. Oz failed to bring it back to first place.

Cooper had followed Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who helped the show recover with ratings of 5.6 and 5.5 in his two weeks.

All-time Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings, who was the first to fill in after Trebek’s passing, has the best ratings of any guest host to date. He had a 6.2 rating in his first week.

Jeopardy! had a 6.6 rating in Trebek’s farewell week in January, and Trebek’s final episode on Jan. 8 received 14 million viewers, more than any episode in over a year.

CNN anchor humiliated

Cooper should not despair of his pitiful Jeopardy! showing, however, as there are more guest hosts to come from the bottom-barrel media, including fellow CNN hack Sanjay Gupta, famed ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos, and notorious Today co-host Savannah Guthrie.

But back home at CNN, things aren’t going much better for Cooper. The partisan network has suffered a predictable post-Trump slump.

A recent report finds that CNN lost more than half its viewers since President Joe Biden was inaugurated on Jan. 20. The network was riding high with over 3 million viewers in Trump’s final weeks as president, before crashing to well under 2 million viewers in primetime.

It look like Cooper brought CNN’s poor luck from one network to another. He would be better off sticking to what he does best: pretending to be smart for his impressionable and dwindling audience.
