The Biden administration continues to press forward with a series of costly federal proposals, unveiling the contents of its latest massive spending plan.
According to one former Trump administration insider, however, the so-called American Rescue Plan includes at least one proposal that discriminates against white Americans.
“Actively and invidiously discriminating”
At issue is a provision offering assistance to “socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers,” according to Stephen Miller.
The Hill reported that Miller joined Texas Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller last week to file a federal lawsuit claiming racial discrimination.
Miller, who now heads up the group America First Legal, alleges that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is “actively and invidiously discriminating against American citizens solely based upon their race.”
The organization’s complaint states that the federal agency “administers numerous statutes that provide government aid to ‘socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers'” but conspicuously omits whites from among the potential recipients.
“The Department of Agriculture interprets this phrase to include African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaskan natives, Asian-Americans, and Pacific Islanders,” the complaint continued.
“Fundamental to our democracy”
Since “white farmers and ranchers are not included within the definition of ‘socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers,” Miller’s group concluded that they are unconstitutionally excluded from the federal program.
The complaint calls for the court to “permanently enjoin” the “racial exclusions” included in the proposal.
“Doing so will promote equal rights under the law for all American citizens and promote efforts to stop racial discrimination,” the argument concluded.
In a related statement, Miller emphasized the vision of racial equality articulated throughout the struggle for civil rights during the mid-2oth century.
“America First Legal opposes discrimination in all forms,” he declared. “We hold fast to the immortal words of Martin Luther King Jr. that Americans ‘should not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.’ MLK’s vision is fundamental to our democracy, in which all citizens are equal both in front of the law and in the eyes of their Creator. For this reason, AFL is filing a lawsuit today against the Biden Administration to prevent it from administering programs created under the American Rescue Plan Act that discriminate against American farmers and ranchers based upon the basis of race.”
