Given what we have already seen from the Biden administration, one might expect it to be in favor of requiring coronavirus vaccine passports across the country. But, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Biden administration’s chief medical examiner, this is not the case.
The New York Post reports Fauci as recently stating that coronavirus vaccine passports are not going “to be mandated from the federal government.”
Fauci: It’s not the federal government’s role
Fauci’s remarks on the subject of vaccine passports came on Monday during an appearance on the “Politico Dispatch” podcast. There, Fauci said that he could see “independent entities” requiring vaccine passports, but not the federal government.
“I’m not saying that they should or that they would, but I’m saying you could foresee how an independent entity might say, ‘Well, we can’t be dealing with you unless we know you’re vaccinated,'” Fauci said.
“But it’s not going to be mandated from the federal government,” he continued. “The government is not viewing its role as the place to create a passport nor a place to hold the data of citizens. We view this as something that the private sector is doing, and we’ll do what’s important to us.”
Fauci here confirmed previous reports that the Biden administration is not looking to implement nationwide vaccine passports, although it is said to be providing guidance on the subject to those in the private sector who are pursuing vaccine passports.
The WHO confirms its opposition to vaccine passports
The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday also said that it is against the implementation of coronavirus vaccine passports, at least “at this stage.”
One of the reasons that the WHO says that it is against such passports is because there is no guarantee that the coronavirus vaccine actually prevents transmission.
On top of that, the WHO said that it was worried about “discrimination against the people who are not able to have the vaccine for one reason or another.”
This statement by the WHO was not that surprising considering that it came out as against vaccine passports last month as well. At the time, the reasoning behind the opposition was that there are not enough vaccines to go around.

What we are talking about here is requiring people to prove that they have been vaccinated in order to participate in some aspects of life, such as traveling.
