Many in the mainstream media have attempted to take down prominent conservative officials through hit pieces and innuendo, but one such effort appears to have blown up in the face of executives at CBS.
A 60 Minutes report designed to discredit Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has reportedly backfired now that Republicans and Democrats alike are calling out its factual inaccuracies.
“Intentionally false”
An attempt to prove that DeSantis accepted a $100,000 donation from the supermarket chain Publix in return for preferential treatment in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine instead revealed that 60 Minutes seems to have ignored the truth in an effort to pursue an anti-GOP narrative.
Jared Moskowitz, the state’s former head of emergency management — and a Democrat — was among those who lashed out at the news program for spreading “absolute malarkey” about the governor.

“No one from the Governor’s office suggested Publix,” Moskowitz declared.
Another Democrat, Palm Beach Mayor Dave Kerner, also issued a sharp critique of the report, which he called “intentionally false” and “based on bad information.”
“Irresponsible suggestion”
In a statement following the broadcast, Kerner added: “I know this because I offered to provide my insight into Palm Beach County’s vaccination efforts and 60 Minutes declined.”
Publix issued its own statement completely disavowing the contents of the report.
“The irresponsible suggestion that there was a connection between campaign contributions made to Governor DeSantis and our willingness to join other pharmacies in support of the state’s vaccine distribution efforts is absolutely false and offensive,” the company asserted.
Conversely, 60 Minutes has neglected to highlight sexual harassment scandals involving Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo or Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s ongoing controversies and recall movement. Furthermore, the program argued that emails attributed to Hunter Biden “could not be verified” in a broadcast last year and former President Donald Trump took issue with its reporting, releasing uncut footage of his interview after an edited version was broadcast on CBS.
DeSantis stood up to the show’s biased reporting — but this time, the evidence was so strong that even prominent Democrats sided with him.
