Mexico deploys thousands of troops in response to border crisis: Reports

Amid a growing wave of undocumented migrants pouring across the U.S.-Mexico border, the Biden administration has consistently denied or downplayed the worsening crisis.

For its part, the Mexican government appears to have reached a different conclusion as it deploys an estimated 8,715 troops to the border to stem the tide.

A string of incidents in Mexico

According to Breitbart, Mexican Secretary of Defense Luis Cresencio Sandoval said 347 immigration checkpoints had been established at various positions along three busy transportation routes.

The official went on to note that 12,905 undocumented migrants had been “rescued” by government forces thus far this month.

Sandoval’s update came a short time after a raid by Mexico’s National Immigration Institute last month that led to the capture of 135 migrants from Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.

Nearly four dozen minors were apprehended in the raid, some of whom were as young as 2 years old. Included in the adult detainees were 43 men and 43 women.

The discovery of that group came in the aftermath of one dramatic incident in which Mexican authorities discovered 233 migrants inside of an abandoned trailer and another case involving 108 migrants packed into a truck.

“Creating another entirely different class”

Meanwhile, the Biden administration is eager to deny that the border crossings have reached the point of a crisis despite reports that U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are being instructed to release undocumented migrants without issuing them a court date.

One anonymous source within the agency said: “We are creating another entirely different class of aliens we will have to deal with years from now. We will never find most of these aliens once they are released.”

That CBP official, who reportedly works in the Rio Grande Valley region, went on to complain that the measure will only incentivize more people to attempt to cross the border.

“We may be reducing the time it takes to release a family unit but if we encourage more to come once they find out it is quicker here, we’ll be in the same boat again,” the individual added.

The Biden administration has finally decided to take some action, however. National Security Council spokesperson Emily Horne confirmed that an official from the agency would be traveling to Mexico this week to help “develop an effective and humane plan of action to manage migration.”
