Biden responds to reports that Trump will soon visit border: ‘I don’t care’ what he does

President Joe Biden is now facing intense pressure to do whatever he can to de-escalate the crisis on the southern U.S. border, with many suggesting that he take a trip there to get a ground-level feel of what’s really going on.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump hinted over the weekend during an appearance on Fox News that he plans on visiting the border in the near future. When Biden was pressed on how he felt about that, he attempted to end rumors that he’s worried about Trump’s interference by telling reporters that he doesn’t care “what the other guy” does with his time, according to The Hill

Trump’s plans

As Fox News reported, the former president told his long-time media ally, Judge Jeanine Pirro, in an exclusive interview that aired on Saturday night in which he confirmed rumors that he soon plans to visit an undisclosed location on the southern U.S. border, where the immigration crisis is worsening by the hour.

Trump hammered the Biden administration’s handling of the current crisis, pointing out that a number of his policies that were canceled by Biden, like the “Remain in Mexico” policy, was a terrible decision that played a role in the massive influx of illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border.

“Thousands and thousands of people are coming up right now as we speak. And you’re going to have millions of people pouring into our country. And it’s going to destroy our country,” Trump said.

The former president added that he believes Mexico is “angry” with the United States at this point, which is especially unfortunate given the working relationship that the Trump administration had with America’s southern neighbor while they worked on quelling the immigration situation during Trump’s time in office.

“We’re not getting along with Mexico any longer. You have a great president of Mexico who was fantastic to me,” Trump told Pirro.

Biden responds

With Trump’s visit to the border all but certain at this point, it’s not surprising that reporters immediately questioned Biden on what his thoughts are about that, given that the president hasn’t committed to a date or time for when he intends to travel to the border.

Biden answered that question as he prepared to once again depart his Delaware-based home for a trip back to the White House.

“We are putting in place a plan that I feel very confident about, and I don’t care what the other guy does,” Biden said, providing no further detail or information about what that plan could entail, or when it could come to fruition.

Since long before he was sworn into office, Biden has enjoyed a fairly obvious shield of protection from the mainstream media. But given that reporters from most major outlets are now pressing the president on what he plans on doing about the border crisis, Biden seems to be getting his first taste of what happens when the media is no longer one’s friend.

Only time will tell if Trump manages to get down to the border before Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, but given Trump’s hints at the timeframe he’s looking at for such a trip, it seems as if it’s a strong possibility. If that does, in fact, happen, get ready for media circus, the likes of which we haven’t seen before.
