Nancy Pelosi wants to remove ‘gendered language’ from House rules

Americans are continuing to suffer from high rates of unemployment and financial stress due to coronavirus-related lockdown policies.

Yet as Breitbart reported on Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has found time to deal with another issue: ending the use of “gendered language” in the House rules.

Pelosi praised this strange new undertaking in a joint statement released last week by House Committee on Rules Chairman James P. McGovern.

Pelosi claims “most inclusive” House “in history”

“As House Speaker, I am pleased to join Chairman Jim McGovern in introducing this visionary rules package, which reflects the views and values of the full range of our historically diverse House Democratic Majority,” she declared.

“This package, which will be introduced and voted on once the new Congress convenes, includes sweeping ethics reforms, increases accountability for the American people, and makes this House of Representatives the most inclusive in history,”

“Thanks to the leadership of Chairman McGovern and our Members, Democrats have crafted a package of unprecedented, bold reforms, which will make the House more accountable, transparent, and effective in our work to meet the needs of the American people,” said Pelosi.

The aging San Francisco Democrat went on to insist, “These future-focused proposals reflect our priorities as a Caucus and as a Country.”

House Minority Leader: “This is stupid”

Part of the plan involves establishing something called “Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth,” which will be tasked with honoring “all gender identities by changing pronouns and familial relationships in the House rules to be gender neutral.”

This will involve removing such “gendered terms” as “father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, grandson, or granddaughter.”

Those words are to then be replaced with “gender neutral” terms like “parent, child, sibling, parent’s sibling, first cousin, sibling’s child, spouse, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, half-sibling, or grandchild.”

However, Fox News has reported that not everyone is a fan of the proposed new rules, which are set for a vote on Monday. Among the critics is House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

McCarthy made his thoughts known in a tweet on Friday afternoon: “This is stupid. Signed, – A father, son, and brother.”
