Graham pleads with Georgia voters to help him ‘kill’ Pelosi’s House agenda with GOP Senate

Georgians will return to the polls on Jan. 5 and cast ballots in their state’s two run-off Senate elections. The stakes are high: if both Democratic candidates are elected, Democrats will control the upper chamber of Congress, as well as the presidency.

But, as Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) pointed out, a Republican victory will mean the GOP can hamstring House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) agenda, Breitbart reported.

“[W]e’ve got a chance here in a few days to make sure the most radical agenda in the history of American politics dies in the U.S. Senate, that anything coming out of Pelosi’s House comes to the Senate, and we kill it dead,” Graham said at a New Year’s Eve rally in the state.

A loss by Georgia Republican Sens. David Purdue and Kelly Loeffler would make for a 50-50 tie in the Senate that would be broken by Vice President Kamala Harris, should she end up taking the oath of office.

Graham’s warning

Graham continued, warning Georgia voters of the socialist agenda that will be in store for the American people if the Democratic candidates are elected to the Senate.

“Both Democratic nominees have drunk the Kool-Aid,” Graham said of Democratic nominees Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

“They really believe, and they’ll be in lockstep with, the socialist agenda that’s gonna come out of the House,” Graham continued. “But we’re gonna kill it dead here in Georgia, aren’t we?”

Sanders on Budget Committee

Graham is expected to head the Senate Budget Committee if Republicans maintain their majority, and he promised to do his part if voters do theirs. If Democrats win majority control, however, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is the likely pick to head the committee.

“I want you to make Bernie Sanders’ 2021 miserable,” he told the crowd of supporters at the Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center in Gainesville.

“What does it matter who runs the Senate?” Graham asked rhetorically. “If Republicans win, I’m the Budget chairman.” However, Graham warned that if both GOP candidates lose then “Bernie Sanders is the Budget chairman. If you’re a conservative and that doesn’t motivate you to vote, then you’re legally dead,” he said.

The South Carolina senator also reminded the crowd of what a Democratic victory would mean for Senate confirmations, recalling how Democrats had reacted to the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“How many of you remember what they were willing to do to Judge Kavanaugh? They were willing to destroy his life, right? These people want power too much, but we got in their way,” Graham said.
