A pro-Trump rally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 6 — the day Congress is set to meet to certify the Electoral College votes — has Democratic officials in Washington worried.
According to Breitbart, Democrat leaders in the nation’s capital have said they expect to see “hate groups” and extremists at the “Stop the Steal” march touted by President Donald Trump — but the lineup for the event actually includes big-name Republicans like Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar and Texas Congressman Lance Gooden.
Also appearing at the event will be Andrew Pollack, who Breitbart described as “a school safety activist whose daughter was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting.”
D.C. Dems are freaking out
Ignoring that it’s being attended and organized by top GOP officials, D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine told CBS News that he’s concerned the “Proud Boys” will make an appearance at the event and “pick fights, create damage, damage property, and then act in a very threatening way.”
“My level of anxiety is high,” Racine said, according to CBS. “My preparation is even more intense than that.”
The attorney general also charged that Trump himself has “literally really has given breath, fresh air, and encouragement to hate groups. Hate is up dramatically since the president came into office,” Racine told CBS.
Apparently as a result of such anxiety, D.C. officials reportedly pressured a hotel and bar frequented by conservatives to close during a similar protest last month. This time around, the establishment is taking a similar approach, opting to close its doors except to long-term residents from Monday through Wednesday.
“We greatly appreciate the trust our guests have placed in Hotel Harrington over the years and we wish to continue to earn that trust,” the hotel said in a statement, according to The Hill. “While we cannot control what happens outside of the hotel, we are taking additional steps to protect the safety of our visitors, guests and employees.”
“Will be wild!”
As Democrat officials in Washington seek to calm their nerves, President Trump himself has continued to invite supporters to attend the rally. As recently as Saturday, the president shared a video on Twitter suggesting the march “could be the biggest event in Washington, D.C. history.”

In mid-December, Trump alluded to the “big protest” and encouraged supporters: “Be there, will be wild!”
Peter Navarro releases 36-page report alleging election fraud ‘more than sufficient’ to swing victory to Trump https://t.co/D8KrMHnFdK. A great report by Peter. Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election. Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!
