President Donald Trump has made no secret of his disapproval of the NFL in the era of kneeling protests, but he finds even that preferable to Fox News these days.
As the president goes on a tear against Fox News over its election coverage, he is encouraging his supporters to turn off the “unwatchable” cable news channel and tune in to “boring football” instead, the Washington Examiner reports.
Trump and many of his supporters have expressed anger at Fox over its coverage of the 2020 election, with many saying the network betrayed its viewers by calling Arizona early for Joe Biden on election night, and by ignoring evidence of voter fraud since then.
Of course, Trump has also been known to quarrel with the NFL over a trend of conspicuous political activism that has alienated many fans. “No thanks!” Trump tweeted over the Thanksgiving holiday, responding to an image of players kneeling.
“Kneeling and all”
Over the summer, Trump was vocal in his criticism of Black Lives Matter protests by professional athletes, saying they hurt sports leagues in the ratings.
But “even a boring football game, kneeling and all,” is better than Fox News now, Trump said Sunday.

Trump, supporters slam Fox
Even before the election, Trump had long lamented from time to time that Fox News had declined in quality, often taking aim at his critics from Fox’s hard news and daytime divisions, such as Chris Wallace.
In the election’s aftermath, Trump has amplified calls for his supporters to seek alternatives like One America News and Newsmax, while disparaging Fox as similar to CNN and other “Fake News” channels, as the Washington Examiner notes.
Newsmax has indeed seen an increase in ratings since the election, registering a boost from 58,000 primetime viewers to 568,000, the Examiner reported.
But despite a fall in daytime ratings after the election, Fox News remains the top dog in cable news.
The network revealed Saturday that it had posted its best November ever amid record primetime ratings from hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham.
