Ratcliffe: Americans ‘deserve an explanation’ from Barr’s DOJ on alleged voter fraud

U.S. Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe opened up Sunday about allegations of fraud surrounding the 2020 elections — and he didn’t mince words.

According to the Washington Examiner, Ratcliffe humiliated Attorney General Bill Barr’s Justice Department — namely, the FBI — for not being transparent enough with Americans about what they’re doing to ensure elections are fair.

“Do you think so?”

The DNI’s comments came during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, where he spoke about claims from President Donald Trump and others that the results of this year’s White House race were tainted by fraudulent votes.

“Does anybody think that the FBI will bring anybody in to question?” Ratcliffe charged, pointing to the bureau’s inaction thus far, according to the Examiner.

“You did an investigation, a darn good one, throughout 2017 and 2018 about what the FBI and the CIA did to take down candidate Trump and worked with Hillary Clinton,” he noted. But will the 2020 races get the same treatment? Ratcliffe is doubtful.

“Does anybody believe the FBI is actually going to bring these people in to question them to find out what they were doing with the suitcases of ballots? Do you think so?” the DNI asked Sunday, according to the Examiner.

“Caught cold”

Ratcliffe’s remarks about “suitcases of ballots” were likely in reference to security footage shown during a recent committee meeting in the Georgia state Senate that appeared to show poll workers in Fulton County retrieving containers full of ballots hidden under a table after GOP poll watchers left the room, as the Examiner noted.

County election officials have denied that the video reveals any impropriety and called the activity part of “normal processing,” but that’s not how President Trump — and many of his supporters — saw it.

“More visibility”

For his part, Ratcliffe assured Bartiromo Sunday that he has “great confidence in our law enforcement authorities,” but he warned that “they ought to provide more visibility to the American people.”

“[Americans] deserve an explanation to know that those types of investigations are taking place,” he insisted, noting that “so many questions” remain, as the Washington Examiner reported. It’s a position that President Trump himself has echoed in recent weeks.
