Former President Barrack Obama is about to finally be dethroned.
Breitbart reports that President Donald Trump is favored to become Gallup’s most admired man this year, finally putting an end to Obama’s streak.
The annual most admired man poll
It was in 1946 that Gallup began asking Americans once a year to name their most admired man.
The overwhelming majority of the time – 60 out of the 74 times that the poll has been conducted – the incumbent president has received the most support. Gallup reports that the only incumbent presidents who did not are Harry Truman (1946-1947 and 1950-1952), Lyndon Johnson (1967-1968), Richard Nixon (1973), Gerald Ford (1974-1975), Jimmy Carter (1980), George W. Bush (2008).
President Trump also made that list in 2017 and 2018 when he finished in second place to Obama. The two tied in 2019.
But, Obama, in fact, has topped the survey for 12 straight years. This streak tied the record that was set by Dwight Eisenhower for the most times as Gallop’s most admired man.
But, now Obama’s record is about to come to an end. And, it is President Trump who is going to hand Obama the defeat.
This year’s winner
Although Gallop’s most admired man survey is not yet complete for this year, the pollster has reported that “Americans are most likely to name President Donald Trump” as the most admired man in 2020.
According to Gallop, the difference between this year and previous years is that Democrats are more divided than before. Gallop reports that Trump’s “dominant performance among Republicans, contrasted with Democrats splitting their choices among multiple public figures, pushes him to the top of the 2020 most admired man list.”
Currently, President Trump is in the lead with 18 percent of the vote, while Obama is in second place with 15 percent. Six percent of Americans have voted for Democrat Joe Biden.
And, believe it or not, after those three men, in fourth place, is infectious diseases expert Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is at 3 percent.
Gallop reports that “The remaining top 10 men include Pope Francis, businessman Elon Musk, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, basketball player LeBron James, and the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists.”
