Michael Flynn slams James Comey during media tour: ‘I know where he’s going to go’

On Thanksgiving Day, President Donald Trump announced that his former national security adviser and retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn had been granted a full pardon. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in late 2017, but moved to withdraw his guilty plea earlier this year, Fox News reported.

Flynn has since embarked on a national media tour and during a recent interview with conservative radio host Dan Bongino, the retired general took aim at former FBI Director James Comey, the Washington Examiner reported.

“I don’t know how that guy can look at himself in the mirror,” he said. Flynn then appeared to suggest that Comey may one day find himself in prison.

“I know where he’s going to go at the end of the day,” Flynn said. “And I know where people like him should go. I won’t say it here on your show.”

Entrapping Flynn

In 2018, Comey told MSNBC personality Nicolle Wallace that he decided to have the FBI interview Flynn effectively on a whim, a statement that brought chuckles and applause from members of a live audience.

He said the move was “something we, I probably wouldn’t have done or gotten away with in a more organized investigation — a more organized administration.”

Comey continued, “In the George W. Bush administration, for example, or the Obama administration … in both of those administrations there was a process, so if the FBI wanted to send agents into the White House itself to interview a senior official, you would work through the White House counsel and there would be discussions and approvals over who would be there.”

“And I thought, it’s early enough, let’s just send a couple guys over,” he explained. “And so, we placed a call to Flynn, said, ‘Hey, we’re sending a couple guys over, hope you’ll talk to them,’ he said sure, nobody else was there, they interviewed him in a conference room in the White House Situation room, and he lied to them. And that’s what he’s now plead guilty to.”

Sinister behavior

Fox News reported in April that handwritten notes were discovered that showed the FBI’s former head of counterintelligence Bill Priestap discussing an attempt to entrap Flynn for the purposes of either prosecuting the then-national security advisor or orchestrating his firing.

“What is our goal?” one of the notes read. “Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?”

Another read, “If we get him to admit to breaking the Logan Act, give facts to DOJ + have them decide.”

Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley called the material “chilling,” adding, “It suggests the use of a flagrantly unconstitutional act to trap a top Trump official.”
