Georgians are scheduled to return to the polls on January 5 and decided whether Republicans David Purdue and Kelly Loeffler or Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock will represent them in the United States Senate.
The Senate will have a 50-50 split if both Ossoff and Warnock prevail, and Kamala Harris would be left casting the tie-breaking vote should she be sworn in as vice president. It’s thus no surprise that Harris was recently seen on the campaign trail in Georgia. President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump also appeared in the state to campaign for the opposing GOP candidates.
The Washington Examiner reported that Harris spoke at a rally in Columbus, Georgia on Monday. It quoted her as warning supporters that “powerful people” are trying to keep them out of the electoral process.
Harris claims GOP trying to suppress vote
“We knew the kind of games they would play to make it difficult, to suppress our vote, to make it confusing, to discourage us,” she insisted.
“And in November we talked about that and we said, ‘We know the challenge that is before us.’ Well, the same challenge exists today,” Harris continued.
“Why are so many powerful people trying to make it so difficult for us to vote?” the California senator asked her audience while not specifying exactly who these individuals are or how they are interfering with the election.
“What we did in November, we can do again because it comes from a very deep place inside of us, understanding that this is not about a dance, this is not about a gesture — this is about our lives,” she claimed.
“This is about the lives of our children,” Harris went on. “This is about the life of our community, and this is about our lifeblood, about our nation.”
Ivanka Trump campaigns for Republicans
However, it wasn’t just Democrat voters who found themselves being visited by a high-profile political figure this week. President Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, was campaigning in the Peach State as well.
Great campaigning with Senators @Perduesenate and @KLoeffler today!
On January 5th, Georgia will send a resounding message to Washington: American patriotism is alive in Georgia – and Georgia will keep freedom alive in America. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

While speaking to a crowd of Perdue and Loeffler supporters in Milton on Monday, Trump laid out her vision of what life in the United States should look like.
According to her, America should be a place where “differences of opinion and debate are encouraged, not canceled, where law enforcement is respected, where our country’s rich diversity is celebrated, and where people of all backgrounds, races, genders, and creeds can achieve their God-given potential.”
