While Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs is a clear supporter of President Donald Trump, that has not stopped him from speaking out against what he believes have been missed opportunities by his administration and re-election campaign.
As a recent example, he sparred with White House senior adviser Stephen Miller in an on-air interview this week, pressing him on the apparent lack of coordination between Trump’s team and prominent Republicans in ongoing election-related legal challenges.
“Let’s be straightforward”
At the heart of the host’s frustration appeared to be the limited support for the president’s effort within his own party.
Furthermore, he opined that the Trump campaign has been dragging its feet in embracing an offer from U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to personally argue on behalf of the president before the Supreme Court, demanding a direct answer from Miller on the perceived oversight.
“The president warns for months and months and months about mail-in ballots and the potential for fraud, and the Republicans do nothing, Stephen,” Dobbs said. “Nothing. What’s wrong with the Republican Party?”
Miller responded by expressing his own “outrage” over the meek reaction of many Republicans to allegations of fraud and evidence of apparent irregularities.
“The reality is that this president right now, and let’s be straightforward about it: He’s fighting all alone and Ted Cruz has stepped up to say he’ll argue before the Supreme Court,” Dobbs replied. “Why on God’s green earth wouldn’t the White House jump on it?”
“No, no, Stephen”
When Miller attempted to shift the focus to complaints about state legislatures, the host once again redirected.

“No, no, Stephen,” Dobbs interjected. “I’m not going to let you do this. You and I, we’re reasonably smart and decent fellows. Why don’t you answer me? That’s all I’m asking here, Stephen.”
Pressing Miller further, he inquired about why Trump’s team does not “salute Ted Cruz and say, ‘Yes, we want you on the team now,'” adding that “this is not a time for internecine nonsense on the part of the Republican Party, which is watching its blood drain into the streets because they’re gutless.”
Miller resorted to explaining that he was “not in a position to make that decision” before once again asserting that “we cannot let our state GOP legislators off the hook.
