A concern for parents these days is that their kids, rather than being educated in school, are actually being indoctrinated – that is, being taught to mindlessly accept far-left dogmas.
Breitbart has put out a report on a new website, called “What Are They Learning?,” that is helping to hold schools and teachers accountable.
“It’s time to educate yourself about what your children are learning,” the website says.
About the website
On its “About” page, “What Are They Learning?” is described by its founders as a “crowd-sourced site created by Luke Rosiak, an investigative journalist and data analyst in the Washington, D.C. area.”
What the website does is it encourages people to post examples of children being “taught” the dogmas of the far-left.
Here is an example that Breitbart used in its report:
Guilford County, NC uses an English quiz to tell students its teachers may strike 'if they are forced to return to school while it is still dangerous to be around people'https://t.co/H9eqMJ3kKo pic.twitter.com/t1XXLdMa2B

An unanticipated consequence
Life has been changed in a number of ways by the coronavirus. Many of the changes have been bad, but what we have here is an example of a bad change – the switch to distance learning – having a good consequence, i.e. the realization by many parents that their kids are no longer being taught but rather are being indoctrinated.
After distance learning became widespread, stories began cropping up of parents being shocked to learn that their children are being taught a woke curriculum. This appears to be something that the left overlooked when they pushed to close schools down – that with distance learning parents have the ability to witness their children’s’ education.
This, in turn, led to the birth of “What Are They learning?” The website explains that, before the coronavirus, teachers were able to indoctrinate “undetected because American schools are run by 13,000 independent school systems.”
The website is now looking to facilitate detection.
Looking forward
There is no question that there are deep problems with the American education system. The question is “how do we go about fixing them?”
It’s a complicated issue, but this website is a good first step in that it is helping to make people aware of the problem through first-hand accounts. It’s more of a free-market approach to the problem. Next, we have to hold those schools accountable who choose to indoctrinate rather than teach.
