‘We’re going there’: Trump announces plan to campaign in Georgia ahead of Senate runoff races

Although the mainstream media has declared the recent presidential race to be over with a victory for Democratic nominee Joe Biden, President Donald Trump has not finished campaigning this election season.

As reported by the New York Post, the president is planning a trip to Georgia, where he will appear on behalf of GOP Senate candidates in a pair of upcoming runoff races.

“I spoke with the two great senators today”

Trump revealed his plan on Thursday after a teleconference with members of the U.S. military stationed overseas for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Speaking of Georgia, we’re going there,” he said. “I spoke with the two great senators today. I’ll probably be going on Saturday.”

The president further noted that he would likely hold a campaign rally of some type while in the state, signaling the importance of the two races that will determine the balance of power in the Senate.

As it stands, Republicans hold a 50-48 lead over Democrats in the chamber. The runoffs in January will determine which party controls the final two seats.

In the event of a 50-50 split, any tied votes would be decided by the vice president — or Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), assuming Biden maintains the self-determined status of president-elect.

“They’re finding tremendous discrepancies in the votes”

If Democrats hold the White House and the House of Representatives, a GOP majority in the Senate is likely to be the primary line of defense against a progressive agenda. Given the high stakes, it is understandable that both parties are sinking significant resources into Georgia.

For his part, Trump expressed his grievances about the alleged election fraud he believes cost him the state’s electoral votes, asserting that Georgians feel “very disappointed we were robbed.”

Going on to compare the 2020 election that that of “a third-world country,” he roundly denounced the process by which Georgia’s results were determined.

“You have to really take a look at what’s going on,” he said. “They’re finding tremendous discrepancies in the votes. Nobody believes thos numbers, those numbers are incorrect numbers.”

Nevertheless, when he was asked by one reporter whether he would leave the White House if the Electoral College certifies a Biden win, he declared: “Certainly, I will.”
