The Washington Examiner‘s W. James Antle III described Joe Biden’s plans for border security and immigration policy in a Saturday report as a “shop of horrors” — and it’s not hard to see why.
The former vice president and media-declared president-elect has made clear that his stance on immigration comes in stark contrast to President Donald Trump’s tough border policies, and according to Antle, Republicans in Washington are already fighting back.
“Joe Biden said last night he is going to submit an amnesty bill for 15 million immigrants in the first 100 days,” Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton (R) told Fox & Friends on Wednesday, according to Antle. “That is probably going to unleash a surge towards our border of people trying to get in before that bill is introduced.”
Biden plans
Cotton’s remarks came in reference to a recent interview between Biden and NBC News’ Lester Holt, who asked the former VP about his top priorities for his first 100 days in office. “I will send an immigration bill to the United States Senate with a pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people in America,” Biden vowed, according to NBC News.
According to his campaign website, that offer of amnesty is but one of several proposals from Biden to roll back what Trump has achieved over the last four years on the immigration front, from ramping up the acceptance of asylum-seekers to increasing the number of visas and green cards issued.
Biden also plans to permanently cement the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, among other things.
“I’ll be voting no”
Aiding in that effort will be Biden’s pick for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, a former DHS official who was accused in 2015 of giving preferential treatment to Democrat-aligned companies in “three EB-5 visa matters,” according to Just the News.
According to Antle, Cotton alleged Wednesday that Mayorkas was “selling [U.S.] citizenship to well-connected Chinese nationals on behalf of Democratic Party donors,” saying that such actions should be “disqualifying.” The senator declared in a separate tweet that he’d be voting no when it comes time to confirm Mayorkas.

Mayorkas’s willingness to give away visas to political friends is not a policy disagreement—it’s disqualifying behavior.

A warning unheard
If Cotton’s dissension is any indication, there appears to be a brutal fight brewing in Congress — and big changes coming to Washington — upon Biden’s inauguration. “The Biden–Harris administration is determined to implement an ‘America Last’ immigration agenda despite having no mandate to do so,” Matthew Tragesser, a spokesperson for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), told Antle.
