‘Tainted by scandal’: Fox News analyst shreds Biden Cabinet picks

With the green light from the General Services Administration (GSA), but still no concession from President Donald Trump, Democrat Joe Biden has been pushing ahead with his administration’s transition to the White House, including by naming a number of Obama-era officials to his Cabinet.

Among them are Antony Blinken and Jake Sullivan, tapped for the roles of secretary of State and National Security adviser, respectively. But according to Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, the two men are “tainted by scandal.”

Speaking with guest host Jason Chaffetz on Tuesday’s episode of Hannity, Jarrett suggested that Blinken and Sullivan ought to be under investigation, rather than up for roles in the executive branch, Fox News reported.

“Knee-deep in the email scandal”

According to Fox, Jarrett paid special attention to Sullivan, who was a top aide to Hillary Clinton both during her tenure at the State Department as well as her failed 2016 presidential run.

Reviving a report from the Daily Caller, the Fox legal analyst accused Sullivan on Tuesday of “peddling the phony [Christopher Steele] dossier. He was disseminating to reporters the Trump–Russia collusion lie that was invented by his boss, Hillary Clinton,” Jarrett added.

He went on: “[Sullivan] was knee-deep in the email scandal. He was sending top-secret classified documents to Hillary Clinton’s private server. He should have been prosecuted, in my judgment.”

According to Fox, Jarrett said Sullivan was spared from prosecution by the “misfits and miscreants” who ran the FBI during the Obama years, like disgraced former FBI Director James Comey, former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, and former special agent Peter Strzok.

But Sullivan isn’t the only one who Jarrett says was a bad choice for Biden’s Cabinet.

Blinken and Biden and Burisma

According to Fox, Jarrett told Chaffetz on Tuesday that Blinken, who was at the time the deputy secretary of State under President Barack Obama, had been in contact with Joe Biden’s son Hunter during the time period between Hunter joining the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings and then-Vice President Joe Biden pressuring Ukrainian leaders to fire a prosecutor who was investigating the questionable company.

According to a report from the New York Post, Hunter Biden had emailed Blinken to request an in-person meeting that Blinken initially agreed to. The meeting was delayed due to the death of Hunter’s brother, Beau Biden, though it did eventually take place months later.

It is unclear what exactly was discussed in that meeting and if any of the discussions pertained to Burisma. Regardless, it has since been revealed in a report from a Senate committee that the Obama administration was fully aware of the “glaring” conflict of interest that was inherent in Hunter Biden’s employment with the Ukrainian company, given the fact that Joe Biden was Obama’s point-man on all things related to Ukraine.

“You would think that Joe Biden would be smart enough to stay away, steer clear of people tainted by scandal,” Jarrett said Tuesday, but with these two Cabinet picks, “he stepped right into it.”
