Evidence of Sen. Kamala Harris’s far-left tendencies came right from the horse’s mouth in the final hours of a contentious presidential race.
The California Democrat campaigning as presidential nominee Joe Biden’s running mate entered the home stretch of the election by endorsing the basic principles of socialism, as reported by Biz Pac Review.
“A big difference between equality and equity”
Harris made her remarks in a video released on Sunday in which the Biden campaign used graphics depicting a Black man and a white man attempting to scale a mountain.
“So there’s a big difference between equality and equity,” Harris said. “Equality suggests, ‘Oh, everyone should get the same amount.'”
While President Donald Trump and other campaign surrogates have attempted to portray Biden as a tool for his party’s most progressive faction, many pointed out that Harris effectively made the case with the rhetoric she used in the recent video.
She cited equality of outcome, insisting that Americans should “end up at the same place.”
For his part, Trump has included in his closing argument to voters that Americans should reject the Biden-Harris agenda of open borders, high taxes, and socialist ideals. Of course, it remains unclear whether his case resonated with enough voters to secure a second term in the White House.
Campaigns make final pitches to voters
What is clear, however, is that Harris is not the pragmatic moderate many voters might have preferred. In addition to investing energy in attempting to perform damage control regarding his running mate’s comments, Biden has also let his progressive roots show on the campaign trail.
He has sought to walk back Harris’ promises to ban hydraulic fracturing as delivered during her own short-lived White House bid, but his own position on the issue has not always been encouraging to those employed in that sector of the energy industry.
In the aftermath of Election Day, America will be closely watching crucial swing states including Pennsylvania, where fracking is big business.
As election returns continue to come in this week, the state’s 20 electoral votes could potentially swing the election in either direction.
The latest polling out of the state shows a tightening race, with at least one giving the president a slight lead over his Democratic rival.
