‘What are you talking about?’: Jim Biden confronted by reporter over allegations about family’s business ties
As the presidential race comes to a close, plenty of unanswered questions remain swirling around Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his family’s dubious international business ties.
For his part, Biden’s brother, Jim, followed suit and refused to comment when a reporter confronted him at his home this week about allegations contained in emails purportedly found on a laptop belonging to his nephew, Hunter.
“I don’t want to comment”
The exchange came on Wednesday between Joe Biden and a Fox News Channel reporter.
“I don’t want to comment on anything,” said the former vice president’s younger brother outside of his residence in Maryland.
Jim Biden co-founded the company Sinohawk with Hunter Biden and others — including Tony Bobulinski, who appeared on Fox News recently to describe the alleged process of partnering with China’s CEFC, or the capitalist arm of the nation’s communist government.
When the reporter asked him why he and his nephew would want to meet with Bobulinski, he apparently feigned ignorance.
“What are you talking about?” he asked before instructing the reporter to stop bothering him.
“Plausible deniability”
For his part, Bobulinksi claimed he asked Jim Biden how they would get away with forming a company featuring elements of the Chinese government, asserting that Biden had a simple reply at the time: “Plausible deniability.”
Reporters brought up that phrase specifically in attempting to elicit a response this week, but Biden walked into his home without responding.
Bobulinksi further claimed that Joe Biden knew about his family’s involvement in Sinohawk, adding that he met with the former vice president to discuss related matters. That allegation contradicts prior statements the Democratic nominee has made, including his denial that he had any knowledge or involvement in those dealings.
Nevertheless, Bobulinski affirmed that emails and phone records would bolster his assertions. The New York Post reported that documents he provided to the U.S. Senate have been verified as authentic. Of course, the Biden campaign — and the candidate himself — have sought to skirt the issue or diminish the controversy whenever possible.
He recently declared: “This is the same garbage [from] Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s henchman. It’s the last-ditch effort in this desperate campaign to smear me and my family.”
