President Donald Trump took another jab at Fox News on Tuesday, just the latest sign of his souring opinion of the network.
The president spoke out against the cable news giant after they aired speeches from Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama.
Fox puts “Sleepy Joe on all the time”
Trump has intermittently slammed Fox News for giving airtime to Democrats — and Democratic party talking points — often targeting journalists from the channel’s news division, most notably Chris Wallace.
After Fox aired speeches from Biden and Obama, who has been campaigning for his former VP, Trump suggested that Fox was showing his rival in a flattering light and lamented what he has often called a change for the worse since the company’s former CEO, the late Roger Ailes, left.
“Fox puts [Obama] on all the time, and they put Sleepy Joe on all the time,” Trump told reporters, according to the Washington Examiner.
“What they should do is they should show the pictures of Sleepy Joe yesterday, when he rushed to Pennsylvania because he saw that I had 25,000 people at each event … he rushed to Pennsylvania and he did a statement and he got lost in a fog.”
“They should show that. Or they should show the picture where he called me George. He thought I was George, and I guess he was talking about George Bush, but he thought I was George. And they should show that. Fox is very disappointing … this would not have happened with Roger Ailes. I can tell you that.”
Trump, Fox on the outs?
President Trump also complained about Fox in a tweet on Tuesday.
“Now @FoxNews is playing Obama’s no crowd, fake speech for Biden, a man he could barely endorse because he couldn’t believe he won. Also, I PREPAID many Millions of Dollars in Taxes,” Trump wrote.
While often likened to “state television” by liberal critics, Fox News has also faced pushback from conservative viewers over a perceived shift in a liberal direction.
The network was criticized in September for cutting off Newt Gingrich when he mentioned ultra-liberal megadonor George Soros.
Trump and his allies also criticized Wallace for his moderation of the first presidential debate, in which the journalist was accused of showing bias against the president.
