Report: Biden uses footage from Nazi Germany in new campaign ad

A new report from Breitbart reveals that Joe Biden’s campaign made the sick decision to use “footage of Nazi dictator and mass murderer Adolf Hitler in a new campaign ad attacking President Donald Trump.”

The four-minute ad, released Monday, shows Biden speaking about the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that ended in the death of a counter-protester named Heather Heyer. A white supremacist named James Fields was later sentenced to life in prison over the killing, according to Fox News.

Biden’s attack ad

Interspersed with shots of Biden is black-and-white footage from the 2017 event, along with images of a cross burning and video of Hitler speaking at a rally.

According to Breitbart, “the song ‘Where Is the Love’ by the Black Eyed Peas,” plays over the ad, as well as vocals from Jennifer Hudson.

Trump out of context

At one point during the campaign ad, Biden uses an out-of-context quote to intimate that President Trump had said at a press conference following the 2017 tragedy in Charlottesville that there were “very fine people on both sides.” The Democratic nominee describes this event as “a wake-up call for us as a country, and for me, a call to action.”

A full transcript of Trump’s remarks shows that he said white supremacists should be “condemned totally,” however.

“What I’m saying is this: you had a group on one side and a group on the other, and they came at each other with clubs and it was vicious and horrible and it was a horrible thing to watch,” Trump said at the time, according to Politico. “I think there is blame on both sides.”

Pressed by a reporter who said, “The neo-Nazis started this thing. They showed up in Charlottesville,” Trump explained his line of reasoning:

Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group — excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.

Not the first time

Of course, this isn’t the first time those on the left have used Nazi imagery to blast the president. A similar ad released last month by the Jewish Democratic Council of America received blowback from the Anti-Defamation League, with CEO Jonathan Greenblatt calling it “the latest in growing references to Hitler, Goebbels, or other Nazi leaders.”

“This has no place in the presidential race and is deeply offensive to the memories of 6M+ Jews systematically exterminated during the Shoah [Holocaust],” he tweeted.

“[W]e urge leaders [and] their surrogates to refrain from invoking the #Holocaust in the context of the current election,” Greenblatt added. “It is not the same. Stay focused on the issues.”
