President Trump hits the polls to cast his vote: ‘A great honor!’

The best leaders lead by example, right?

The Washington Examiner reports that President Donald Trump made the trip to a polling place in Florida on Saturday to officially cast his ballot.

“I voted for a guy named Trump,” the president told reporters after he put his vote for 2020 on the books.

Four more years

It was early Saturday that the president made the trek to Palm Beach County’s main library to cast his ballot. The library is located in West Palm Beach, which is part of Florida’s 21st Congressional District, according to the Washington Examiner.

In a video later posted to Twitter by White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the president could be seen wearing a mask and accompanied by Secret Service agents as he entered the polling station. Outside, supporters lined the streets in hopes of catching a glimpse of the commander-in-chief.

“It’s an honor”

According to the Washington Examiner, Trump’s choice to hit the polls in Florida marks the first time he’s voted in-person since switching his residence from New York City to the Sunshine State. In previous years, Trump has submitted an absentee ballot, but he has warned against such practices in recent months amid concerns of voter fraud brought on by widespread mail-in voting.

Those on the left have said voting by mail is a safer option for Americans amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but Trump isn’t buying it. The president even suggested in July that November’s elections be delayed so that “people can properly, securely, and safely vote” in-person.

On Saturday, Trump reiterated his stance that voting in-person is “much more secure” than the alternatives.

“It was a very secure vote, much more secure than when you can send in a ballot. I can tell you that,” Trump said after he cast his ballot, according to the Washington Examiner. “It’s an honor to be voting, an honor to be in this great area.”

The home stretch

Vice President Mike Pence, for his part, turned in his ballot on Friday. According to USA Today, Pence and Trump are now among the more than 50 million Americans who have already cast their votes for the next president.
