Pollster who foresaw Trump’s 2016 victory makes another prediction: ‘I see the president winning’

A pollster who accurately predicted the results of the 2016 election believes that President Donald Trump is going to win again.

Robert Cahaly of Trafalgar Group told Fox News’ Hannity on Tuesday that the so-called “hidden Trump voter” is not showing up in most polls, setting the stage for another surprise Trump win.

“I see the president winning”

Cahaly, who accurately predicted that Trump would carry Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan in 2016 when almost no one else did, suggested Tuesday that Trump’s foes could be in for an unpleasant surprise again.

“I see the president winning with a minimum [electoral vote count in the] high 270s and possibly going up significantly higher based on just how big this undercurrent is,” Cahaly told Sean Hannity, according to Fox.

Most polls show Trump trailing his Democratic opponent, but many note that the situation looked very similar when Trump pulled off a shocking victory in 2016 from which Democrats never quite recovered. According to Cahaly, polls are once again discounting how much “hidden” support Trump has.

“What we’ve noticed is that these polls are predominantly missing, you know, the hidden Trump vote, what I have referred to as the shy Trump voter,” he told Hannity, as Breitbart reported.

Cahaly went on: “There is a clear feeling among conservatives and people for the president, not interested in sharing their opinion so readily on the telephone. When you see people be beat up, harassed, doxxed, and we see their houses torn up because they express political opinions that are not in line with the political correct establishment.”

The “hidden Trump voter”

A recent sampling of polls on RealClearPolitics shows that Joe Biden is up nationally by about eight points, and the Democrat is leading in most battlegrounds, if only by small margins. Recent Trafalgar polls meanwhile show Trump with a slight edge in Michigan and Florida alike.

The “hidden Trump voter” has sometimes been cited as an invisible source of strength that could once again frustrate the expectations of Democrats.

“These people are a lot more hesitant to not participate in polls, so if you are not compensating for this, if you are not trying to give them a poll they can participate in with a lower threshold that would make them feel more comfortable that it is anonymous, you are not getting honest answers,” Cahaly explained Tuesday, according to Breitbart.

Is it possible that Trump has even more hidden support than last time, after four years of anti-Trump backlash?

While many Trump voters may be shy, they are also more excited than Biden supporters to turn out for the president, something that could play to the incumbent’s advantage, as the New York Post noted earlier this month. But only time will tell.
