Poll: Trump leads Biden nationally and in several swing states

The latest Rassmussen poll shows President Donald Trump with a slight lead over Democrat challenger Joe Biden nationally and in several swing states where Biden has led in most polls for several months.

Trump leads Biden by one point in the poll, 48% to 47%. The lead is within the poll’s margin of error, which is 2.5%, but it is the first poll in months to show Trump ahead of Biden.

Rassmussen showed Biden 12 points ahead of Trump just two weeks ago and three points ahead one week ago. Either the race between Trump and Biden has significantly narrowed, or many previous polls were widely skewed toward Biden.

Other new polls from IBD/TIPP and Trafalgar Group show narrowed Biden leads nationally that are within the margin of error.

Swing states going red?

The poll numbers are reminiscent of those just before the 2016 election, most of which showed Hillary Clinton winning the election.

Trump also has a 52% job approval rating in the poll released Monday. Former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush both had 50% job approval when they were easily re-elected.

In key swing states, Trump has a three point lead in Florida, two points in Ohio and Arizona, and one point in North Carolina–all new leads since the last Rassmussen polls took place in those states.

While Rassmussen still shows Biden with a five point lead in Pennsylvania, Trafalgar Group showed a much closer race in last week’s poll, with Biden leading by less than one point and well within the margin of error.

Another lid for Biden

Trump is doing three rallies in Pennsylvania on Monday, making the effort to bolster the vote in that crucial state.

Meanwhile, Biden may have called a lid on in-person events until the election, if this report is correct. I probably would too if I just called the president George like Biden did during a virtual interview on Sunday.

In addition, Biden’s press unavailability prevents him from having to answer questions about allegations that he and son Hunter Biden took payoffs from international figures including in China and Ukraine and that he lied about having no knowledge or involvement in his son’s business dealings.

If he can just keep people from focusing on that for another few days, maybe he can get elected. Just what we need, a corrupt president who thinks we need to cozy up to China and tax people into oblivion.
