Dr. Anthony Fauci agreed with and officially endorsed a statement from the World Health Organization that supported China’s response to the coronavirus in late January, according to emails obtained by Judicial Watch and The Daily Caller News Foundation through a Freedom Of Information Act request.
The emails showed a draft statement, which was redacted, being sent by the newly convened Global Preparedness Monitoring Board, a joint arm of WHO, to Fauci and others at the National Institutes of Health for their endorsement.
Fauci agreed that China was “transparent”
The emails show that NIH director Francis Collins was “happy to endorse the joint statement,” and Fauci also replied, “Looks fine. Please see my comments in attached document.”
Then, on Jan. 30, the following statement was released by WHO:
The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) convened on 27 January 2020 to discuss the current outbreak of 2019-nCoV which was first detected in Wuhan, China and is now quickly spreading internationally. The Board commends the speed of the response so far by countries and the World Health Organization (WHO), the transparency of China in sharing information and the genome sequence of the virus, and the strong collaboration between China and affected countries and with WHO.
At the time, President Donald Trump had not yet ended the United States’ relationship with WHO, but key events should have raised red flags about the Chinese response to the virus.
On Jan. 14, WHO tweeted a statement from Chinese health officials that the coronavirus was transmissible through human-to-human contact, and did not admit that it was until Jan. 20. The South China Morning Post reported that Chinese officials were well aware on Jan. 14 that the virus could be transmitted from human to human.
More red flags
In the six days before China admitted the contagiousness of the virus, the city of Wuhan held a banquet for tens of thousands of people, and millions of people around the world began to travel to China for lunar new year celebrations, The Associated Press reported.
Clearly, there was a lot that was wrong with China’s response to the coronavirus, and some of it was known even at the time Fauci sent the email endorsing it the statement.
Yet he endorsed China’s response to the virus, even as reports were starting to come that China was “welding” and barricading people inside their homes who had been in Wuhan or who had the virus, leaving them to die.
Just rec’d a video from someone in Beijing. She says people in #Wuhan r locking down the infected people within their homes, so that they can’t escape out in the open, in a bid to stop the spread of #coronarvirues . The infected families r being left to starve & die. Horrific 😢 pic.twitter.com/shsIV9ICcP

It was also known at the time that several Chinese doctors who had spoken out about the virus had either vanished or been silenced, which should have been another red flag, Fox News reported.
