‘Chumps’: Trump supporters crash Biden rally in Pennsylvania

Democrat White House hopeful Joe Biden called supporters of President Donald Trump who made their voices heard at a Biden drive-in rally in Bucks County, Pennsylvania “chumps” as they lined up with Trump flags outside the parking lot where Biden was speaking and honked their horns, the New York Post reported.

The impromptu meet-up for Trump may have been better attended than the Biden rally itself as the president’s supporters filled a nearby parking lot to the one at Bucks County Community College, where Biden spoke for about 25 minutes Saturday.

“We don’t do things like those chumps out there with the microphones, those Trump guys,” Biden said at one point as the honking continued, according to the Post.

About 130 cars were present for Biden’s speech, the Post reported. The local Courier Times claimed that there were 170 cars at Biden’s rally, but “hundreds” of Trump supporters lined up outside.

“Massive Trump rally”

The spectacle led one Fox News reporter to tweet that the Biden appearance had turned into a “massive Trump rally/car parade/GOTV event.”

Biden, for his part, said during his speech that Trump was “the only guy any of us have known as president who’s making money from foreign sources,” an allusion to recent accusations that Biden took payoffs from foreign businesses and officials through his son Hunter Biden, as the New York Post reported.

Joe Biden didn’t further address the allegations, however. He also didn’t address the difference between an elected official taking payoffs for access and a businessman with legitimate and legal interests in another country.

Biden predicts “dark winter”

Other than that, the former vice president stuck to the usual attacks on Trump’s  COVID-19 response. “It’s going to be a dark winter ahead unless we change our way,” he said at one point, as the Courier Times reported.

The reality is that while COVID-19 cases are increasing in many areas as the weather cools down and people gather more indoors, there has not been a corresponding increase in deaths from the virus in over a month — a sentiment Trump himself echoed in a tweet Saturday.

The message of hope that Trump gives after having the virus and receiving treatments that helped him recover in a matter of days has got to be looking a lot more attractive to many Americans than Joe Biden’s doom and gloom.
