Democrat vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris was caught on a hot mic asking where she was before addressing supporters in Cleveland on Saturday.
“Are we in Cleveland?” Harris asked a nearby staffer as she was handed a microphone, according to Breitbart. After getting the nod of approval, Harris turned and said to supporters: “Hey Cleveland! It’s Kamala!”
The moment came as Harris began a speech at the Tri-C Cleveland campus, where about 75 specially invited guests got to “meet and greet” the vice presidential candidate, according to the local WOIO.
“The people will make the decision because the power is indeed with the people,” Harris told supporters Saturday, according to Breitbart.
“A double whammy”
Speaking in Cleveland, Harris also tried to contrast Biden’s way of looking at the economy with President Donald Trump’s. Biden notably focuses more on the “working people,” while Trump hopes to boost the businesses that employ them, Harris argued.
But Biden’s tax plan would most certainly hurt the working families who Harris referenced by increasing taxes on businesses and retirement contributions. The former measure would impact working Americans’ retirement savings, while the latter would make the prices of all goods and services rise.
In addition, Biden’s proposed repeal of Trump’s 2017 tax cuts would hurt “low- and middle-income Americans who benefited from [them],” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany told Fox Business earlier this month.
“When you raise the corporate rate, that ends up affecting after-tax income,” McEnany explained, “so it’ll be a double whammy for low- and middle-income Americans and they’ve seen their wages go up thanks to this president.”
“Chumps for Trump”
While Harris was trying to rally the Democratic base in Ohio, Joe Biden was in Pennsylvania, where a large group of Trump supporters gathered to honk and shout during his drive-in rally, as the New York Post reported.
In frustration, Biden called the Trump supporters “chumps,” and a whole new T-shirt industry was born. By Monday, Trump rallygoers in other parts of the state sported “Chumps for Trump” signage, similar to the “deplorable” T-shirts that became popular after Hillary Clinton called Trump supporters “deplorables” while campaigning in 2016.
Trump also sought to capitalize on Biden’s stop in Pennsylvania by pointing out how the Democrat’s energy policies would impact the state’s economy in a Monday tweet.
Last week, Joe Biden made perhaps the most shocking admission ever uttered in the history of presidential debates. On live television, Joe Biden confirmed his plan to ABOLISH the entire U.S. Oil Industry—that means NO fracking, NO jobs, and NO energy for Pennsylvania Families!
