Trump warns voters that Biden’s ‘economic treachery’ would embolden China

President Donald Trump used his Labor Day address to continue a harsh line of criticism against China while linking his general-election rival to the communist nation.

He cited the former vice president’s approach toward China throughout his lengthy career in public office, warning that the emerging superpower “will own” the U.S. if Biden is elected in November, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

“Biden is a stupid person”

Trump’s latest remarks on the topic came during a wide-ranging speech from the White House on Monday.

“Biden cheered China’s rise as a great power because great powers adhere to international norms in the areas of nonproliferation, human rights, and trade,” the president said.

As it turned out, however, Biden and others involved in such foreign policy decisions were played for a fool, Trump claimed.

“They took advantage of stupid people,” he said of China’s leaders. “Stupid people. And Biden is a stupid person. You know that. You’re not going to write it, but you know that.”

He then went on to argue that Biden’s “economic treachery” lead to tens of thousands of lost manufacturing jobs.

“China has been very bad”

“And he’s talking about how wonderful it is with China,” Trump continued. “No, China has been very bad.”

Noting the additional toll of the coronavirus, which originated in China, the president portrayed the nation’s threat as exponentially greater under a Biden administration. As for Biden’s public statements about China throughout the 2020 presidential race, he has previously raised concerns among those who believe he downplayed its potential threat to America.

“China is going to eat our lunch?” he asked during a speech last year. “Come on, man. They can’t even figure out how to deal with the fact that they have this great division between the China Sea and the mountains in the East — I mean the West.”

As Pew Research found in a poll last month, Americans are increasingly wary of China on a global scale. With 6 in 10 respondents expressing an unfavorable opinion of the nation, the polling firm noted it was the highest level since the question was first included in polls and a 13-point jump since 2018.

With Election Day rapidly approaching, Biden and his campaign can scarcely afford to remain so out of step with the American people on this major issue.
