A great deal of speculation has surrounded Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her perceived intentions of leveraging her position to ultimately become commander in chief.
President Donald Trump weighed in on the issue this week, asserting that the senator’s ascension to the presidency in such a manner would “rip our country apart,” as reported by Breitbart.
“Through the back door”
His remarks came on Thursday during a campaign rally in Wisconsin.
The president specifically expressed concern about Harris becoming the first female president “through the back door” instead of earning the position by demonstrating her own merit.
His reference comes amid reports suggesting that Harris not-so-secretly sees herself as the candidate at the top of the ticket. Both she and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden caught flak this week for referring in some form to a “Harris administration.”
Combined with polling that shows a majority of voters do not believe Biden would complete a full term in the White House, his running mate is increasingly seen as likely to replace him.
“If a woman is going to become the first president of the United States, it can’t be her,” the president said. “That would rip our country apart. This is not what people want. And she comes in through the back door.”

Trump went on to recall that he “brilliantly” said that Biden would not select Harris as his running mate “because she was too terrible to him” during the primary race.
In the meantime, the president kept up his line of attack on his general-election rival, whom he has previously described as a “puppet” for the Democratic Party’s far-left faction.
“Joe Biden says this is a race between Scranton and Park Avenue,” Trump tweeted on Friday. “This is a race between Scranton and China. Joe Biden betrayed Scranton, and America, to China and foreign countries. I will always put America First!”
Noting the twin references to Harris as the candidate at the top of the ticket, Trump said she and Biden “are a disaster together.”
If such controversial campaign performances continue as Election Day draws near, an increasing number of voters are sure to begin viewing the Democratic presidential team the same way.
