Trump enemy Mark Zuckerberg hit with election interference complaint

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg might be in some trouble.

Breitbart reports that the Wisconsin Voters Alliance (WVA) has filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Election Commission against an organization funded by Zuckerberg and his wife.

What for?

The organization funded by Zuckerberg is the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL). The CTCL, according to the WVA, has made millions of dollars in donations to five Wisconsin cities in particular which are known to be Democratic strongholds.

“These grants are intentionally limited to these heavily Democratic areas for the purpose of boosting voter turnout there in a clear effort to sway the election statewide,” the WVA claims.

Phill Kline, a representative of the WVA, explained what he thinks is going on in some more detail.

“This initiative by CTCL is clearly designed to provide a boost in registered voters, limited only to traditional leftist strongholds, in a critical swing state that is likely to determine the outcome of the presidential election on November 3, 2020,” he said.

What we know

The WVA put out a press release outlining the donations made by the CTCL.

“Cumulatively, CTCL has thus far granted $16.3 million to the five cities in Wisconsin and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which cast over 82% of their over one million combined total votes for Hillary Clinton in 2016,” it reads in part.

It continues:

In Wisconsin, CTCL has granted a total of $6.3 million in municipal funding from private sources to the Cities of Green Bay, Kenosha, Madison, Milwaukee, and Racine. The grants were issued directly to the cities and not the Wisconsin Board of Elections, which is responsible for managing elections throughout the state. A plurality of the funds — about 40% — went to support both vote-by-mail and early voting efforts. Around $1 million dollars went to “voter outreach and education efforts.”

Disinformation?

In addition to all of this, there have already been reports about how Zuckerberg plans to donate $300 million to help with things like recruiting poll workers and renting polling places for the upcoming election.

This money will go to two supposedly non-partisan organizations, one of which is CTCL.

Is Zuckerberg running some election interference of his own to make sure that President Trump doesn’t get reelected? We’ll have to see how the Wisconsin Election Commission rules.
