President Donald Trump announced at a campaign stop in Nevada over the weekend that Joe Biden should follow his lead in releasing a list of potential nominees to the Supreme Court, according to the Daily Caller.
The president released last week a list of 20 individuals who he believes might be deserving of a spot on the high court’s bench. According to The Hill, the new names include high-profile Republicans like Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton and add to a list of some 25 other potential SCOTUS nominees previously named by Trump.
“I put out a list of an additional number of very conservative, highly thought of, highly respected judges. And they are the only people that I will pick, meaning — the first list, the second list, it’s about 44, 45 people — they are the only people that I will consider for Supreme Court of the United States,” Trump said Saturday.
“And I’m asking Joe Biden to do the same thing,” the president added of the Democratic White House hopeful. But Trump is apparently not holding his breath on that.

Trump said in Nevada on Saturday that Biden “can’t” release his list of names without guaranteeing his own loss in November. “He can’t, because he’s got a bunch of radical left maniacs that they want to put on the court,” Trump said. “Not even…Democrats, rational Democrats, will…vote for some of these people to be on [the Supreme Court],” the president contended.
“So, so far, he’s refused to do it,” Trump added of Biden. “I’m probably forcing him tonight to do something, but he should put out a list of his judges, so that you know where you stand.”

“Lost forever”
According to The Hill, Trump also broached the topic of his SCOTUS picks during remarks to reporters Wednesday at the White House, where he made clear that whoever wins in November will play a big role in shaping the future of the federal judiciary.
“Over the next four years, America’s president will choose hundreds of federal judges and in all likelihood, one, two, three, and even four Supreme Court justices,” Trump said Wednesday, according to The Hill.
He went on: “The outcome of these decisions will determine whether we hold fast to our nation’s founding principles or whether they are lost forever.”
Although no sitting Supreme Court justices have so far expressed an intent to step down, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 87 years old and has recently made headlines due to a series of health problems. Justice Stephen Breyer, meanwhile, just turned 82 in August.
