Salon owner who exposed Pelosi invited to open salon in different California county

The salon owner whose business came under fire after a feud with Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has received some great news.

Erica Kious, the owner of eSalon in San Francisco, received an invitation to open a new salon in another California county after being run out of town by Pelosi supporters, the Washington Examiner reported.

Salon owner invited to set up elsewhere

Kious got into a public battle with the top Democrat after releasing surveillance footage of Pelosi getting her hair done at Kious’s salon, which was closed due to coronavirus restrictions. Pelosi was also not wearing a mask inside the salon.

Pelosi responded to the scandal by accusing Kious of a “set up,” insisting that it was the salon owner who should apologize. San Francisco Mayor London Breed took Pelosi’s side, saying the city should “move on” from what many said was an enraging act of hypocrisy. Meanwhile, Kious, a single mom of two, told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that she would likely have to leave the city, her home of 15 years, after the dispute prompted a deluge of death threats against her.

In a letter last week, Placer County Board Supervisor Bonnie Gore invited Kious to set up shop in her county, contrasting it with San Francisco as a place that is friendly to small business owners, The Sacramento Bee reported.

“As an elected official, I am disheartened to hear about your recent experience in San Francisco with the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, at your salon,” Gore wrote.

“While you may already know your next destination, I would like to invite you to consider setting up your next salon here,” Gore added. “Our arms are open to hard-working small business owners.”

Turnaround for salon owner

The salon owner has said that she shared the footage to make a point about the hypocrisy of elected officials flouting restrictions that have devastated many small businesses.

“The point of releasing this video was to show a woman in a high-risk age group who spends much of her time on TV warning about the dangers of COVID-19, feel safe and comfortable in a San Francisco salon, and can be responsible for being cautious and mindful,” she said at a news conference, San Francisco’s KGO reported.

“Why can’t the rest of San Francisco and the rest of America do that too?”

Meanwhile, Kious has raised over $300,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to set up a new salon.

“I am very humbled and grateful to have received such an outpouring of kindness, empathy, and generosity from people I don’t even know and from all walks of life and all sides of the political spectrum,” Kious said in a letter thanking donors, the Examiner reported.
