Report: Violent crime is on the rise in cities with Soros-backed prosecutors

All across America, leftist billionaire George Soros has poured his fortune into electing local prosecutors who share his ambition of eroding law and order. Now, it seems that campaign is starting to bear fruit.

A new report from The Washington Times confirms that in cities with Soros-backed prosecutors, violent crime is on the rise.

Soros: The man behind it all

According to the Times, Soros donated hundreds of thousands of dollars through PACs to far-left prosecutor Kim Gardner of St. Louis in her 2016 and 2020 campaigns, and Philadelphia’s Larry Krasner was the beneficiary of a massive $1.7 million donation from Soros in 2017. They are just two prominent officials who won their races with financial backing from the progressive billionaire.

It’s all part of a push by the far-left “philanthropist” to reshape criminal justice with a backward agenda that treats criminals with compassion and cops with hostility. As the Times reports, prosecutors like Gardner and Krasner have rolled back prosecutions for low-level offenses while dishing out vicious rhetoric at police.

The results have been grim: in Philadelphia, homicides are up 34% in 2020, according to the Times. Meanwhile, murders are up 30% in San Francisco, where the son of Weather Underground terrorists, Chesa Boudin, has taken charge of the law with financial backing from Soros’s network, the Times notes.

Those sworn to protect are fed up with the negligence and hatred of prosecutors like Gardner, which they say is leaving cops and innocent civilians in danger.

“People don’t want to work there,” Kristi Flint, a St. Louis lawyer and former prosecutor, said of Gardner’s office, according to the Times. “They came in acting as if the police are the enemies, very combative. Then everything breaks down, and the people who are suffering the most are the victims of these crimes.”

Soros brings the big bucks

Indeed, these prosecutors seem to be almost deliberately sowing discord as America faces unrest and a spike in homicides across major cities, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Gardner in particular has attracted significant attention this summer for pursuing charges against a St. Louis couple that defended their property from restive demonstrators, and in Philly, Krasner has vowed to review more than 2,000 arrests of rioters, according to PhillyVoice.

As a caveat, crime is not just up in cities led by Soros-backed prosecutors, experts contend. But Black Lives Matter protests that have left police departments feeling embattled may be playing a role, and Soros is a prominent backer of groups leading the drive against law enforcement.

Soros hasn’t always succeeded, however: according to The Washington Times, he blew $800,000 on a District Attorney’s race in upstate New York’s Monroe County last year that ended in a loss for Democrats.

“It was unheard of, no one had ever seen anything like that,” a spokeswoman for the Republican incumbent who won the race said of Soros’ spending, according to the Times. “In 2016, in a very, very heated race, spending was between $100,000 and $200,000.”
