Liz Cheney says Kamala Harris’ record is ‘to the left of Bernie Sanders’

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) explained on Wednesday her belief that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) was a surprising vice presidential pick for the supposedly middle-of-the-road Joe Biden, because Harris is not really the moderate that recent media coverage has depicted her to be, as Fox News reports.

“Joe Biden has really been trying to portray himself as the moderate in this race, as somebody who is centrist, and in one fell swoop here he has put somebody on the ticket whose voting record in the Senate is to the left of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren,” Cheney said on America’s Newsroom.

Cheney called Harris a “radical” and said the American people would surely notice that her positions on many issues were much further to the left than Biden’s were when he was in the Senate.

“The American people are going to look at the substance of this. They’re going to look at what she stood for in the past, they’re going to look at what she said during the primary election,” Cheney said during the interview.

Radical record

Conservative Institute has already uncovered statements Harris made during her primary campaign in 2019 about supporting reparations for Black Americans because of the “trauma” the last two centuries of the country’s history has inflicted upon them.

Harris has also said that sex work should be decriminalized nationally, and she has radical views on guns and publicly funded health care as well.

Cheney pointed out that Harris supported “$32 trillion in funding for ‘Medicare-for-all’ health care coverage” during her time in the Senate, which amounts to more than the entire U.S. GDP.

“Let’s be constitutional!”

Harris’ record on guns is even more dangerous that her views on health care, according to Cheney.

“If you look at her record at all in California, she did, in fact, essentially ban gun sales with executive action and she threatened during the primaries to do the same thing if she were elected here,” Cheney said.

According to The New York Times, Harris said during the primary season that she supported universal background checks for gun buyers and an assault weapons ban and was willing to send law enforcement agents to people’s doors to confiscate guns if they weren’t supposed to have them, as the Washington Examiner noted.

Interestingly enough, Harris got pushback on the issue of guns from none other than Biden himself during a primary debate in September of last year. After telling Harris it wouldn’t be right to use executive orders to implement gun control, Biden implored the senator, “Let’s be constitutional! We’ve got a Constitution.”

At this rate, it is questionable whether Biden will even remember what he said back then, or stand by it if he were elected, however. The radical left has taken over the Democratic presidential campaign just as it has taken over the party as a whole, and there’s really no such thing as a moderate within it anymore.
