Will Cain to join ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ as co-host

Get ready for a new face on Fox News’ weekend programming.

Former ESPN commentator Will Cain will be coming on as a new co-host on the weekend editions of Fox & Friends, the Washington Examiner reports.

Cain, according to Fox News, will be the permanent replacement for Tucker Carlson, who left the show in 2017. Over the past few years, the spot has only seen substitutes. Carlson has his own show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, that airs on weeknights.

Course of events

Cain announced that he was leaving ESPN last week.

“I have a new opportunity that I’m excited to announce in the coming days,” Cain wrote on Twitter Friday. “I’m thankful for my five years at ESPN and loved every day of ‘The Will Cain Show.’ We’ve had fun, challenged consensus, sought the truth and succeeded in growing this time slot beyond historical expectations.”

Not long thereafter, Fox News announced that it would be hiring Cain.

“Will has a unique ability to connect with an audience on a wide variety of topics and will make an excellent addition to the ‘FOX & Friends franchise,'” said Gavin Hadden, the vice president of Fox’s morning programming.

Cain put out a message of his own, saying, “I am excited to join the team at “Fox & Friends Weekend” and look forward to building upon my experience in sports, news, and politics on the number one morning show in the country.”

Who is he?

ESPN watchers and listeners will know Cain — who actually has a legal background, having graduated from the University of Texas’ law school — as the radio host of The Will Cain Show and as a frequent guest on First Take. But this isn’t where his media career began.

Before ESPN, Cain was a political analyst for CNN and TheBlaze. In fact, with TheBlaze, Cain made a documentary about New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his attempt to get rid of charter schools.

In addition, Cain at one point even owned two media companies — Quince Media and Cain Communications. In short, television politics will be nothing new for him.

Cain is expected to make his debut on August 15th alongside co-hosts Jedediah Bila and Pete Hegseth.
